Dear Parents

We hope you had a restful and heartwarming winter break, filled with precious moments and time to reconnect as a family. As we return to school, we recognise that winter brings a natural change in pace. It provides an opportunity to reset, refocus, and prepare for the busy and exciting quarter ahead. We’re thrilled to welcome our little ones back on Tuesday, 22 July, as we embark on a lively and enriching Quarter 3! This quarter promises to be jam-packed one, from 67 Minutes for Mandela Day, where we’ll be collecting tin cans for those in need, to a delightful visit from the Music Tree puppet show, which will introduce the children to the joy of musical instruments.

We’re also looking forward to SPCA Dress-Up Day, where the children can express their love for animals by dressing up and donating to a worthy cause. And of course, a true highlight: Special Person’s Day—a magical morning where each child shares their classroom with someone close to their heart.

A big thank you to our dedicated staff who have been hard at work during the holidays, ensuring every space is warm, welcoming, and ready for learning. Wishing everyone a fantastic and productive quarter ahead!

WINTER OLYMPICS

On the second-last day of Quarter 2, our learners took part in an energetic and exciting Winter Olympics Day. Each classroom hosted a different activity, and the children rotated through them with great enthusiasm. From movement-based games to fun winter-themed challenges, the day was filled with smiles, laughter, and lots of teamwork.

It was heartwarming to see our learners cheering each other on, trying new things, and enjoying every moment. A fantastic way to wrap up the quarter—with fun, friendship, and unforgettable memories.

Congratulations

Alexandra Gouws (Tigger's House) played her very first violin concert at the Renée van der Westhuizen Suzuki Studio! She started with violin in 2024. Alexandra has been invited to participate in masterclasses with teachers from Belgium and the UK and to play at the South African Suzuki Association's annual national concert during the July holidays.

Winter Quarter Extra Mural Sign-Up Form 

Please follow the link below to sign up your little one for the Autumn Quarter Extra Mural activities. The cut-off date for sign-ups is Thursday, 24 July. After that, the form will be locked for submissions, and extra murals will start on Monday, 28 July.

Due to the wide selection of activities on offer, some extra murals will take place at the same time, and parents/learners will, therefore, have to make a choice. The Grade R daily programme is enriched with weekly compulsory swimming lessons, Robotics lessons, recorder lessons, and isiXhosa lessons, all included in their tuition fee. 

Should you wish to enrol your little one in beginner piano lessons, a piano at home is not required. Parents are welcome to contact W. Heuer for rental options.

Cake Sales – A Monthly Treat!

Each grade has the opportunity to contribute to their grade cake sale, and there is much excitement as the children eagerly look forward to their little monthly treat. 

We request that items such as cupcakes, popcorn, crisps, muffins, etc. be sent to the class on their allocated cake sale date. We also recommend that your child spend no more than R2 at the cake sale to save some appetite for lunch! You are welcome to send the term’s money in advance (i.e. 3 x R2 coins, with a total of R24 for the year per child) or send in the R2 on cake sale days in a sealed envelope/packet. Please ensure that items donated for cake sales do not contain nuts and that no sweets are sent in. We love healthy goodies, especially popcorn!

Music Tree 

We’re excited to welcome Music Tree back this August! This interactive puppet show combines songs, rhymes, stories, musical instruments, and imaginative play to create a fun and educational experience for our little ones.

Each grade group will enjoy a themed session:

• 12 August – Grade 0000: Transport

• 13 August – Grade 000: Transport

• 14 August – Grade 00: Ocean & Beach

The Music Tree show is always a highlight—packed with excitement, movement, and lots of opportunities for children to sing, engage, and explore sound through storytelling.

A fee of R65 will be billed to your account.
