Pre-Primary Weekly Memo
30 August 2024
Dear Parents
This week, we’ve seen a mix of weather, from cold and rainy spells to sunny, yet chilly days. Despite the chill, it was wonderful to celebrate Special Person’s Day with our various classes. We loved having the special guests join us and experience the engaging atmosphere of our learning environment. As we look ahead to spring, we’re excited to embrace the new season and will kick it off with Crazy Hair Day on Monday.
Report Feedback Meetings
We encourage every parent to make the time to book and diarise a report feedback meeting. This is a very important meeting in terms of learning more about how your child is progressing and finding out more about their days at school. It is also a wonderful opportunity to have the teacher’s undivided attention and really focus on your child. It is a vital aspect of the home-school partnership and it greatly assists each child’s development and progress when we work together. Please click on the class links below to choose a preferred date and time.

Monthly Cake
Each grade has the opportunity to contribute to their grade cake sale, and there is much excitement as the children eagerly look forward to their little monthly treat.
We request that items such as cupcakes, popcorn, crisps, muffins, etc. be sent to the class on their allocated cake sale date. We also recommend that your child spend no more than R2 at the cake sale to save some appetite for lunch! You are welcome to send the term’s money in advance (i.e. 3 x R2 coins) or send in the R2 on cake sale days in a sealed envelope/packet. Please ensure that items donated for cake sales do not contain nuts and that no sweets are sent in. We love healthy goodies, especially popcorn!
Winter Quarter
6 September: Grade 000 and Crackerjacks
Spring Quarter
11 October: Grade R
8 November: Grade 00
29 November: Grade 000 and Crackerjacks
Parents wanting to assist with their class/grade cake sale are welcome to notify their child’s teacher. Kindly arrive no earlier than o9h45 to help with the setting up items.
A Library Adventure
We have recently been extending our supply of Just So stories as the children enjoy them so much and they always teach valuable lessons. This one is reported to have been a bedtime story told by Rudyard Kipling to his daughter and was first published in 1900 in Ladies’ Home Journal.
It seems to have been inspired by a visit to Australia and tells the story of the rather arrogant kangaroo who used to look quite different. He had four short legs and was grey and woolly. He loved to dance on the rocks for all to see. He longed to be famous and to be followed around by fans. However, when his wish was granted, it was not quite what he had expected and he found himself followed across Australia by a Dingo.
Be careful what you wish for… Another story that entertains and stirs the imagination!
