Dear Parents
"Sharing is caring" is a phrase we hear often in preschool, sometimes even used by children as a way to get what they want! While the idea behind it is important, learning to share and take turns is about more than simply handing something over—it’s about understanding kindness, patience, and fairness.
For young children, these skills take time to develop. It’s completely natural for them to feel strongly about a toy or want a turn right away. Instead of expecting them to share immediately, we can guide them through these moments, helping them see the benefits of playing together and making space for others.
At school, we encourage sharing and turn-taking through play—whether it's passing a ball, using a timer during games, or working on group activities like puzzles and art. Simple cues like, "You can have a turn next," help children manage their feelings while learning patience. At home, similar moments happen all the time—whether it’s waiting for a favourite toy, taking turns with a sibling, or helping set the table.
It’s in these everyday experiences that children learn to cooperate, compromise, and build friendships. By giving them gentle encouragement and recognising their efforts, we help them navigate social play with confidence.
Let’s keep creating these opportunities—both at school and at home—so our children can grow into thoughtful, considerate little people who enjoy playing and learning together!
What an honour it was to welcome Madam Daleena back to the College for a wonderful storytelling session with our Grade R learners! The children were captivated by her engaging stories and storytelling magic. Thank you, Madam Daleena, for inspiring our young learners!
We are so excited to welcome Megan’s Mobile Petting Zoo to our school on the following dates:
📅 9 April – Grade 0000 & Grade R
📅 10 April – Grade 000 & Grade 00
The children will have the chance to meet and interact with a variety of friendly farm animals, including ducks, rabbits, chickens, geese, a tortoise, goats, and a guinea pig! 🐥🐢🐐
This hands-on experience is always a highlight for our learners and we can’t wait to see the joy on their faces!
Each grade has the opportunity to contribute to a cake sale, and the children eagerly look forward to their special treat. We ask that cupcakes, popcorn, crisps, muffins, etc. be sent to the class on the allocated cake sale date. Please ensure all items are nut-free and do not include sweets.
To keep appetites in check, we recommend that children spend no more than R2 at the cake sale. You may send R2 on the day in a sealed envelope/packet or prepay for the term (R6 per term, R24 for the year).

Parents who wish to assist with their child's cake sale must liaise directly with the class teacher. Not all parents are required to attend, as too many adults can be overwhelming for the children.
