Dear Parents
This week, we marked an important milestone, Christopher Robin Pre-Primary's 46th birthday!
We offer our heartfelt thanks and best wishes to our managing director and founder, whose vision, passion, and dedication have guided the school for nearly half a century. Her commitment to creating an environment where children can explore, learn, and grow continues to inspire us all.
The celebrations were filled with excitement and treats, from a lively circus show to ice lollies and cupcakes, bringing smiles to all the children and staff alike and capturing the joyful spirit of the occasion.
Thank you to everyone who assisted with the cake sale today - your time and support are appreciated. And to those who contributed the delicious treats that made it such a special highlight of the week, a heartfelt thank you as well.
This quarter's cake sales are now concluded, and we look forward to the classes that will host duirng the autumn quarter.

LITTLE MOUSE’S BIG BOOK OF BEASTS
Winner of the prestigious Kate Greenaway Award, Emily Gravett is a marvel of invention. Little Mouse is scared of some creatures, so how does he deal with his fears? He tackles the illustrations with paint, post-it notes and cut-outs to make them less scary. For example: the lion’s page sports a handwritten post-it note that says: How to make this page less scary. 1. Remove roar 2. Cover claws 3. Turn the page The lion's mouth is taped shut with “SHHHHHHH” written on the tape, and his mane has been transformed with colourful watercolours. He is also wearing spotty red mittens on his feet. What fun!
Every animal has an informative poem. The lion’s poem ends in the word “roar”, which has been “ripped out”, which leaves a gaping hole on the page.
This book invites hours of discovery and conversation and is filled with unexpected wonders. A wonderful treat for all ages!

Our learners are always excited to enjoy new stories and rhymes together, and this special book will bring lots of fun during story time.
Thank you, Wahluma, for sharing your birthday in such a thoughtful way.
Happy Birthday, Wahluma!
The Crackerjacks have been learning all about Summer this week, and the theme lined up perfectly with the weather!
The little ones learned all about the importance of sun protection and showed a great understanding of why we need to wear sunscreen and hats, as well as the importance of drinking lots of water to stay hydrated.
The very hot weather allowed for plenty of water play, and the gift of bags of ice presented an opportunity for lots of cooling down, play, and learning. The little ones cooled themselves with blocks of ice and watched with fascination as they slowly melted away.
At the art tables, we engaged in various Summer art projects, from making our own Mr Sun to creating yummy ice cream cones. With our layered art technique, we used various art methods to complete our sun pictures. From practising crossing our midlines by painting a whole page, to bubble wrap printing and sunbeam collage, there was lots of creativity at work! It was wonderful to see the children’s pride when their little works of art came together.
While we had loads of fun this week learning about Summer, we do look forward to cooler weather next week!
This week in Piglet and Tigger’s House, our theme was “My Family.” We spent time talking about the special people in our families and how every family is unique and important. The children enjoyed sharing who lives in their homes and speaking about the people they love the most.
For our art activity, we created a beautiful “My Family” photo frame. The children carefully decorated around a border to make their own special frame. They used colours and decorations to make it unique, and then we placed a picture of “My Family” inside the frame. The children were very proud of their creations and loved talking about the people in their pictures.
We also had a very exciting celebration this week as Christopher Robin Pre-Primary School turned 46! It was a wonderful day filled with fun and treats. The children were amazed by a circus act, which brought lots of laughter and excitement. To make the celebration even sweeter, everyone enjoyed delicious cupcakes and refreshing ice lollies. The children had such a special time celebrating together.
It was a joyful week filled with learning, creativity, and celebration in Piglet and Tigger’s House!
This week in the Grade 00 classroom, we explored the special theme of “My Family.” The children enjoyed sharing stories about the people who make their families special and learning that every family can look different but is filled with love and care.
As part of our activity, each learner created their own beautiful photo frame to display a picture of their family. The children had so much fun decorating their frames with colours, patterns, and creative designs. It was a wonderful way for them to express themselves while celebrating the important people in their lives.
The finished frames look absolutely fantastic, and the children were very proud to show off their family photos. This activity helped build a sense of belonging, encouraged conversation about home life, and reminded us all how important family is.
We loved seeing the children so excited to talk about the people they love most!
A Magical (and very hot) Week in Grade R
It was certainly one of the hottest weeks we’ve had, but that didn’t stop our energetic Grade R’s from having a week filled with fun while learning about our theme: “Days of the Week.” To make the learning extra exciting, we had a special activity for each day!
We started with Move It Monday , where the children got their bodies moving with hula hoops, balancing beams, sack races and lots of different movements. There was plenty of laughter and cheering as everyone gave the activities their best try.
On Turn Up the Music Tuesday , the playground came alive with music, dancing and singing. The children enjoyed joyful little dance parties during outside play, showing off some wonderful (and very creative!) dance moves.
Water Fun Wednesday was the perfect way to cool down in the warm weather. The children explored water play with toy animals, measuring cups and “water babies” (orbeez), and may even have been surprised by a splash or two from the sprinkler and hosepipe! It was also a very special day as we celebrated Christopher Robin’s 46th birthday . The children were treated to an exciting circus show , followed by cupcakes and refreshing ice lollies to mark the occasion.
On Try a Ball Thursday , the children experimented with balls of all shapes and sizes, rolling, throwing, bouncing and kicking as they discovered all the different ways balls can move.
We ended the week with Fancy Treat Friday , where the children enjoyed our cake sale and chose a delicious sweet or savoury treat.
It was a joyful, busy and very warm week filled with movement, laughter and lots of special memories in Grade R!
As digital safety is becoming increasingly important for children growing up in a connected world, we felt it would be valuable to share this information with our Pre-Primary parents. Awareness and early conversations about responsible technology use help us all work together to keep our children safe online.
By staying informed and supporting healthy digital habits from a young age, we can help guide our children to navigate the online world safely and responsibly.
PARKLANDS COLLEGE PARTNERS WITH KLIKD FOR A DIGITAL SAFETY SOLUTION
Parenting in the digital age presents unique challenges. Balancing your child’s need for online interaction with the responsibility of keeping them safe can feel overwhelming. Excluding your child from the digital world might seem isolating, yet providing them with unrestricted access to smart devices without guidance can pose serious risks.
It is vital to equip our children with the skills they need to navigate the digital world confidently, responsibly, and safely. That’s why we are thrilled to announce our partnership with Klikd, South Africa’s leading digital safety and citizenship company. We will be rolling out Klikd’s Digital Citizenship Programme for Schools for Grades 4-6.
About Klikd
Klikd was founded by clinical psychologist Pam Tudin and social media lawyer Sarah Hoffman, combining their expertise to offer an innovative approach to cyber safety and digital citizenship education.
In today’s world, knowing how to handle challenges such as cyberbullying, gaming addiction, inappropriate content, online predators, managing one’s digital footprint and Artificial Intelligence - is no longer optional -it's essential. These aren’t skills that can be taught in a single school talk but require continuous conversations and guidance, reinforced at school and at home.
The Klikd Digital Citizenship Programme for Schools
Through our partnership with Klikd, we will offer a carefully curated programme that provides learners with the tools they need to thrive in the online world. Importantly, it also empowers you, as parents, with weekly practical resources and strategies to support your child on this journey.
