Dear Parents
✨ Nurturing Positive Behaviour ✨
One of the questions that often comes up in parenting—and in teaching too—is discipline. How much is too much, and how much is too little? Every family has their own style, and that’s natural. What matters most is that our children feel secure, supported, and guided as they learn about the world.
At Christopher Robin, we see discipline not as something strict or heavy, but as guidance. The early years are when children learn the difference between positive and negative behaviour, and they need extra support to practise this. What really helps is not punishment, but consistency, encouragement, and connection.
Some of the approaches we use at school, which can work beautifully at home too, include:
Consistency brings security – predictable routines and clear, positively phrased rules help children feel safe.
Notice the good – specific praise builds confidence and encourages more of those wonderful moments of kindness and cooperation.
Model calmness – children learn emotional regulation best by watching how we handle our own big feelings.
Redirect gently – rather than focusing on “don’t,” we guide them toward what they can do.
Connection first – trust and warmth are the foundation for cooperation. A few minutes of undivided attention often prevents many struggles.
We share these not as a set of rules, but as ideas you may find helpful. Most importantly, we want children to grow up feeling loved, safe, and capable—at school and at home. By working together, we can create an environment where they flourish in every sense.

As the quarter draws to a close, we would like to take the opportunity to thank all the parents for their support throughout.
We invite parents to a report feedback meeting with your child’s class teacher. Click on the class links below to choose a preferred date and time. We encourage every parent to take the time to book and diarise a feedback meeting. This is a very important meeting in terms of your child’s progress and finding out more about their days at school. It is also a wonderful opportunity to have the teacher’s undivided attention and focus on your child. It is a vital aspect of the home-school partnership, and it greatly assists each child’s development and progress when we work as a team.

A big thank you to all the amazing parents who came to assist and sell at our cake sale today! Your support, smiles, and delectable treats made it a great success. We also sincerely thank the parents who contributed goodies towards the Grade 00 Cake Sale.
We appreciate your time and effort, we couldn’t have done it without you! 💛
This week our Tiny Tots, had such fun exploring the theme of transport. The children were completely absorbed in our car painting activity—dipping little toy vehicles into paint and pushing them forwards and backwards across the page to create the most beautiful track patterns. It was a lovely mix of creativity, movement, and good, messy fun!
We enjoyed sensory play as well by using jumbo tweezers to pick up tiny figurines like dragonflies, dinosaurs, and farm animals, all hidden in buckets filled with “water babies”. Our Tiny Tots really enjoyed the challenge of finding and collecting all the creatures and animals, and it was a brilliant way to strengthen those little fingers while practising patience and focus.
We’re so proud of how engaged and curious they’ve all been, and we can’t wait for more fun next week!
Our 3-year-olds had an exciting introduction to land transport this week! We began our journey with a fun and creative activity – painting with cars. The children dipped toy cars into black paint and drove them across their papers to create their very own roads. This hands-on experience sparked lots of curiosity and joy as they watched the tire marks form a road right before their eyes.
Afterwards, we gathered together to talk about the many different types of land transport we see around us, from cars and buses to trains and trucks. The children shared their own experiences and showed great interest in how vehicles help people and goods move from place to place.
To finish off the activity, the toddlers pasted brightly coloured dump trucks onto their painted “roads.” Over the next few days, the children will also be adding small pieces of litter into their dump trucks - just like real ones that help to keep our environment clean.
This playful exploration not only encouraged creativity and imagination but also helped strengthen fine motor skills, early conversation skills, and a growing awareness of the world around them.
This week in Tots 2, we’ve been learning all about land transport! The children had a blast experimenting with cars, dipping them in paint and rolling them over white paper to make car marks. They also loved stenciling different types of land transport onto their papers, adding even more creativity to their artwork.
Our little learners enjoyed building train trucks and driving vehicles on them, turning playtime into an exciting hands-on learning experience. It was wonderful to see their imagination and curiosity in action as they explored how different land vehicles move.
This week our Grade 000 learners have been on the move as we explored the exciting world of transport! Our primary focus was air transport, and the children loved learning about different ways we can travel through the skies - from airplanes and hot air balloons to helicopters and even rockets!
We also had lots of fun sorting different vehicles into their special “homes” - deciding whether they travel on land, in the air, or on water. This activity encouraged plenty of thinking, discussion, and giggles as the children worked together to make their choices.
In between all the travel talk, we spent some time on pattern building, strengthening our early maths skills while having fun with colours, shapes, and sequences.
To make the week even more special, we welcomed the start of spring! The children enjoyed the warmer weather outdoors, and we celebrated with a joyful SPCA Animal Dress-Up Day. Our playground was filled with little lions, kittens, puppies, and more, all helping us remember the importance of caring for animals.
It was a week full of learning, laughter, and imagination - and we can’t wait to see where our transport adventures take us next!
Our Pooh Bears look forward to their weekly music lesson with Teacher Cassandra! Music time is always a highlight, and the children are full of smiles and excitement as they enter the room.
This week, the focus was on high and low sounds. The Pooh Bears listened carefully to the music, raising their hands high for the high-pitched sounds and lowering them down for the low ones. It was such a joy to watch their faces light up as they eagerly listened and responded.
These lessons are not only fun but also build important listening skills, concentration, and rhythm awareness. The enthusiasm and energy the Pooh Bears show each week truly make music time a special part of our learning journey.
Why Music Lessons Are Important 🎵
Music helps children in so many ways. It supports language development by encouraging careful listening and sound recognition, strengthens memory and concentration, and develops motor coordination through movement. Most importantly, it builds confidence and joy as children express themselves and learn through play.
What a buzz-tastic start to the week! Our little Honey Bees loved SPCA Dress-Up Day, showing off wagging tails and fluffy ears while learning about kindness and caring for animals.
This week, we explored the fascinating world of reptiles! Our Honey Bees learned that:
Sea turtles can live over 100 years. Reptiles are cold-blooded and some lizards can regrow their tails! This topic sparked curiosity, built vocabulary, and deepened our love for nature.
Gears & Building with Teacher Nikki
Using gears and building parts, the children designed creative playgrounds, building key pre-coding and STEM skills like:
Cause and effect
Problem-solving
Sequencing
Fine motor development
Music with Teacher Cass
Through singing and instruments, we explored high, medium, and low tones. This helps children:
Improve listening and sound recognition
Develop language skills
Express themselves creatively
It was a joyful, musical experience!
This week, the Roos explored the fascinating world of reptiles! We learned that reptiles are cold-blooded, lay eggs, and have hard, scaly skin. The children were especially intrigued to discover how chameleons can change colour.
We also had the joy of meeting Cammy the Chameleon, which made our learning come alive. To build on this, the Roos created beautiful rainbow chameleons using a sensory art activity - crushing colourful pasta shells to use as textured “scales.” The children loved the hands-on experience and proudly displayed their vibrant reptiles!
In Rabbit’s House, we have loved our theme of books. We have discussed the terms ‘author, illustrator, publisher, characters, setting and plot’. We have spoken about the different ways a story can be introduced, from ‘once upon a time’, to ‘In a Galaxy far away’ and that the introduction is designed to allow us to meet the characters. We then looked at the structure of the middle and ending of books and developed our prediction skills. We have many eager readers in our class and we gave our children a platform to practice their new understanding of books. We loved listening to learners read “Merlin the mouse” and “Bouncy Ben and his bike”.
SPCA dress-up day was a wonderful opportunity for us to reflect on our love for animals and to discuss how to look after them gently and lovingly. It was thrilling to witness tigers playing with puppies and raccoons, and butterflies playing with fish, for our dress up day. Knowing it helped to raise funds for the precious animals made it all the more worthwhile.
This week in our Grade R class was all about books – and what a fun and exciting week we had! We explored the magical world of fiction books, where anything can happen – from talking animals to friendly monsters! We read some fun and silly stories together, and one of our favourites was Can I Have a Hug?, which inspired us to create our very own “worry monsters.” These happy, colourful creatures were made with lots of imagination and are here to help us feel better when we’re feeling a little down.
We also made our very own little books and tried our best to read them all by ourselves – wow! Fiction books are a wonderful way for young children to develop their imagination, build emotional understanding, and strengthen early reading skills – all while encouraging more creative drawing and storytelling.
The Kangas did a fantastic job during recorder this week – they are practicing hard to impress everyone at the end of the year!
Excitement filled the classroom as the Owls arrived dressed as their favourite animals for SPCA Day! We had everything from cats and lions to giraffes and even a dragon. The children loved showing off their costumes and sharing in the fun - all while supporting the SPCA and learning about caring for and protecting animals.
Spring allergies are reported to be getting worse and starting earlier because of climate change, and cold viruses are continuing to rise in spring for the same reason. Here’s what you need to know.

This is the wonderful story of a tiny Duckbill dinosaur who accidentally ends up in a Tyrannosaurus nest, where he gets hatched by this gruesome family. He is totally out of place with this aggressive family, who call him Drip. All he wants to do is have a peaceful life and munch on juicy water weeds. The Tyrannosaurus, however, has its eyes on the Duckbills across the river. Fortunately, they are afraid of water, which means that they cannot reach them easily. And when Drip turns out to be brave and clever, the Duckbills' peaceful life is secured.
You simply cannot go wrong with Julia Donaldson. Her rhyming stories and appealing characters become memorable favourites and never cease to delight.
