Dear Parents
What a joyful and heartwarming week it has been! Our school was buzzing with excitement and pride as our little ones took to the stage for A Jungle Adventure. Their confidence, charm, and sheer delight lit up the room and reminded us all of the magic that happens during a concert. Thank you to every parent and special person for your support; these special moments are made even more meaningful when shared with you.
In Grade 000, our little learners also dove into the magical world under the sea, exploring colourful sea creatures and learning all about ocean life through stories, songs, and art. The excitement didn’t stop there – our budding performers took to the stage for the very first time in A Jungle Adventure! Dressed as adorable animals, they sang, danced, and brought the jungle to life with confidence and joy. What a week full of discovery, creativity, and proud moments!

DreamWorks Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR. features original music and lyrics by George Noriega and Joel Someillan, and book by Kevin Del Aguila.
As the show opens, we learn that Marty the zebra may be celebrating his tenth birthday at the Central Park Zoo with his friends Alex the lion, Gloria the hippo, and Melman the giraffe, yet he longs to experience life outside of the zoo’s walls. When Marty eventually escapes, his animal friends from the zoo pursue him into New York City. After reuniting, the animals are chased by the police, and ultimately felled by tranquilliser darts. They awake, trapped in crates, on a ship, which, through a series of events, is thrown off course. Upon reaching land, the animals discover they have been shipwrecked on the island of Madagascar. Ultimately, it is only in being so lost that they can begin to discover where they really belong.
Every Grade 4 - 6 learner as well as every Grade R - 3 dancer is getting ready to Move it! We hope to see you join in the fun too! Ticket Sales are now open! Book here via Quicket.
Our dancers had a truly memorable time at this year’s Ballet Eisteddfod, showcasing their hard work, passion, and beautiful artistry on stage. We’re proud to share a short video with some highlights from the event, capturing the joy and dedication of our learners.
Parklands College continues to lead the way in embracing diversity and inclusion in ballet. As part of this commitment, all our dancers performed in flesh-toned tights that matched their individual skin tones — a powerful step forward in making every dancer feel seen, celebrated, and proud of who they are.
We are looking forward to World Environment Day on 5 June, and even our young children can learn about the precious animals on our planet and how to protect them. This adorable face belongs to Sasha, a bearded seal pup, who is learning to swim. Those whiskers are actually important in helping him find his way in the cold water. Along the way he meets other inhabitants of the sea and learns to trust the lessons his mum taught him about staying safe. This delightful book is perfect for ages 3 and up.
Thank you to Yayama for the book donation.

STAYING CONNECTED WHILE LETTING THEM GROW
Many parents have been asking for an evening workshop as daytime sessions can be tricky with work commitments, so here it is!
A few months ago, I hosted a session at a school’s parent evening, and it was such a meaningful evening of conversation, reflection, and shared wisdom around the realities of parenting today. We spoke about the challenges we and our children face, what real connection looks like, how we connect in busy modern life, and the ongoing dance of knowing when to hold on and when to let go.
There’s so much to unpack in this topic, and I’d love for you to join me for another heartfelt, practical evening of sharing, learning, and growing together.
4 June 2025 from 18h30 - 20h00 COST: R200 p/p
You’re welcome to share this invitation with friends and colleagues, and parents at your school — the more, the better.
To book your spot, email me at: laurensnailham@yahoo.com
Let’s take this time to connect, reflect, and support each other.
