Pre-Primary Weekly Memo
6 September 2024
Dear Parents
As we wrap up the Winter Quarter, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your support throughout this time. It’s been wonderful to see the children’s excitement and growth in their learning, and we’re so proud of their progress.
Please note that school will close on Friday, 13 September at 13:00, and we hope you all enjoy a joyful and restful spring break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Wednesday, 2 October, refreshed and ready for another exciting quarter of learning and fun!
Report Feedback Meetings
We encourage every parent to make the time to book and diarise a report feedback meeting. This is a very important meeting in terms of learning more about how your child is progressing and finding out more about their days at school. It is also a wonderful opportunity to have the teacher’s undivided attention and really focus on your child. It is a vital aspect of the home-school partnership and it greatly assists each child’s development and progress when we work together. Please click on the class links below to choose a preferred date and time.

Grade R Outing - Rosen Castle
The children had a fantastic time on their outing to Rosen Castle! The bus ride alone was a highlight, filled with excitement and chatter. Once there, they eagerly immersed themselves in role-playing activities, pretending to be grown-ups working at Capitec Bank, shopping at Checkers, and helping the 'animals' at TAH Hospital. The experience sparked their imaginations and brought so many smiles. To top it all off, they had a great time decorating their own scrumptious biscuits, adding a sweet and creative touch to their day!
Spring Quarter Extra Mural Sign-up Form
We plan to finalise the spring quarter sign-up list by the end of this quarter, as all administrative staff will be involved with the ISASA Deputy Heads Conference during the holidays.
📣Extra-mural activities will commence on the first day of school next quarter, Wednesday, 2 October.📣
📣The cut-off date for sign-ups is on Thursday, 12 September 2024📣

Monthly Cake Sale
Each grade has the opportunity to contribute to their grade cake sale, and there is much excitement as the children eagerly look forward to their little monthly treat.
We request that items such as cupcakes, popcorn, crisps, muffins, etc. be sent to the class on their allocated cake sale date. We also recommend that your child spend no more than R2 at the cake sale to save some appetite for lunch! You are welcome to send the term’s money in advance (i.e. 3 x R2 coins) or send in the R2 on cake sale days in a sealed envelope/packet. Please ensure that items donated for cake sales do not contain nuts and that no sweets are sent in. We love healthy goodies, especially popcorn!
Spring Quarter
11 October: Grade R
8 November: Grade 00
29 November: Grade 000 and Crackerjacks
Parents wanting to assist with their class/grade cake sale are welcome to notify their child’s teacher. Kindly arrive no earlier than 09h45 to help with the setting up items.
Thank you to all the parents who helped with today’s cake sale. Your contributions made the event a success, and we appreciate your support. A big thank you as well to those who have assisted throughout the quarter by sending in treats and helping at previous events. Your involvement means a lot to us and helps make these experiences enjoyable for the children. We truly appreciate your continued support!
A Library Adventure
This time of the year we always pay tribute to one of the greatest children’s authors of all times. Roald Dahl was born on 13 September which has become Roald Dahl Day. His iconic characters live on in many languages and cultures all over the world, and the more than 500 words that he has created have enriched the English language immeasurable.
Publishers are keeping this legacy alive with new publications every year, and this year there is a beautiful set of the books in their original covers, in case you are collecting for your home library.
You can also look out for a delightful romp titled The Night Before Christmas in November, in which the Enormous Crocodile gets up to his usual mischief.
A new interactive book that promises to be a lot of fun, is Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Magnet Book. You are going to meet some of the well-known characters from Roald Dahl’s world, while the children get to make their own decisions in how the story progresses. It comes with a set of magnets that provide an enjoyable visual and tactile experience. This is perfect for the 3 - 5 readers.
