Dear Parents
It may still feel like winter in the early mornings, with chilly air and the last of the rain clinging on, but there are hints of change all around us. The orchards are beginning to bloom, birdsong is filling the air, and every now and then, the sun breaks through just long enough to warm our faces. The children have been quick to notice these little signs of the new season — spotting blossoms on the trees, listening to the birds, and making the most of every bit of sunshine during their outdoor play.
This week, our little Tiny Tots were busy with open-ended pasting activities, exploring both 2D shapes and 3D objects using glue brushes with gentle guidance and lots of encouragement. We created vibrant rainbow collages, integrating our ongoing exploration of shapes while consolidating colour recognition and using different sizes, lengths and textures. These hands-on experiences support the development of fine motor control, bilateral coordination, and hand-eye coordination, all essential foundations for early writing and self-help skills. It’s been a joyful blend of sensory play, spatial awareness, and creative expression, plus a bit of delightful mess along the way!
What a fun-filled week it’s been as we explored the wonderful world of shapes! The children had an absolute blast rolling, pressing, and squishing playdough into circles, squares, and triangles. We added some colour to the fun with shape stamping, filling our classroom with bright and happy artwork.
One of the highlights was building our very own rockets using shapes! With big triangles, small circles, and rectangles, the little ones proudly created their own rocket masterpieces.
Teacher Erin’s class joined in on the excitement, too! Her children carefully selected colourful shapes to create their own rockets, pointing them proudly up to the sky. Their imaginations truly took flight!
It’s been a joyful, creative, and shape-filled week of hands-on learning and teamwork.
This week, our curious Honey Bees leapt into the magical world of frogs! With wide eyes and eager hands, they discovered the fascinating frog life cycle, then brought it to life through enchanting art. Each child carefully pieced together sparkling lily pads, delicate lilies, and the sweetest little frogs nestled in shimmering blue ponds. Their imaginations truly bloomed!
In STEAM Park with Teacher Nikki, the excitement continued as the children explored the wonders of building. They learned the magic behind strong foundations, then proudly constructed their very own houses, some working solo, others in joyful teams. The creativity and laughter were contagious!
As the weather brightened, so did their spirits. The crisp air and golden sunshine saw our Honey Bees buzzing with joy on the jungle gym, giggling and playing with friends under the open sky.
A week full of wonder, learning, and laughter, just the way we like it!
This week, our curious Pooh Bears have been hopping into the fascinating world of frogs! We've been learning all about the life cycle, from tiny eggs to wriggly tadpoles and finally, to bouncy frogs. The children created beautiful lily pads by stamping green and blue paint to make water scenes. Our glittery frog creations are coming to life with sticky glue and lots of sparkle! We've also had fun clapping out new and exciting words, even the big one: METAMORPHOSIS! What a ribbiting week of learning and creativity! 🐸✨
This week in Roo's House, our budding builders have been hard at work at the Duplo table, creating impressive structures with teamwork and creativity. We’ve been learning all about the life cycle of a frog, our little ones loved crafting their own frogs and exploring metamorphosis. We also met Inky the Mouse as we introduced the Jolly Phonics letter ‘i’ with lots of singing and fun!
This week, our classroom turned into a flavour lab as we explored the sense of taste! We discovered the four main tastes - sweet, sour, salty, and bitter, and learned how our amazing taste buds help us experience them. The Kanga’s were fascinated to find out that different parts of the tongue are more sensitive to certain tastes. To bring our learning to life, we sampled some exciting flavours: bitter dark chocolate, sour lemons, salty biscuits, and sweet jelly and chocolate. The reactions were priceless! We also got creative and made a giant sparkly doughnut using paint, glitter, and colourful “sprinkles” to celebrate all things sweet. It was a deliciously fun week full of learning and laughter!
This week, the Owls enjoyed a creative and engaging Art class! They began by drawing the outline of a cat using black crayon, then carefully tore coloured paper to fill in their cats – a great activity for strengthening fine motor skills. The children also had fun making delicious-looking art doughnuts, choosing their own “flavours” and, of course, adding lots of colourful sprinkles! It was a wonderful session filled with imagination, creativity, and hands-on learning.
The Pick A Story series is a unique experience for young readers where they get to choose how the story unfolds. On every page, there is an activity, which could include search-and-find, odd-one-out, or a maze. But the real excitement is that the reader chooses the direction that the story takes, which takes place in three different worlds. Imagine that! You could enjoy a completely different story every time you read it.
In today’s featured book, Davy is on his way to school. He is very excited about the brilliant picture that he has drawn, and he cannot wait to show it to his teacher. However, the picture strangely disappears, and the reader gets involved in finding it. It is mind-boggling that a dragon could have taken the picture. It is also possible that mermaids are involved, or even a superhero!
Look out for three more hilarious adventures in this engaging series, in which you will encounter pirates, aliens, unicorns, dinosaurs, robots... the possibilities are endless. Join in the fun!
