Dear Parents
To all the dads, stepdads, grandpas, and father figures in our community - we hope you are thoroughly spoiled this Sunday. Whether that means a quiet round of golf, a relaxed braai with family and friends, or simply putting your feet up with a good cup of coffee, we hope the day is filled with appreciation and enjoyment.
Wishing you a wonderful Father's Day!
Please complete this form if you would like to sign your child up for ballet and/or cello. These are wonderful opportunities for children to develop coordination, confidence, creativity, and a love of dance and music in a supportive and nurturing environment.
A big thank you to the parents who so kindly stepped in to host our final cake sale of the quarter. From the baking to the setting up and all the helping hands in between, it really made the cake sale run so smoothly. The children absolutely loved it, and there was such a lovely buzz around the table. We’re so grateful for the time and care you put into making it happen.

We invite parents to a report feedback meeting with your child’s class teacher. Click on the class links below to choose a preferred date and time. We encourage every parent to take the time to book and diarise a feedback meeting. This is a very important meeting in terms of your child’s progress and finding out more about their days at school. It is also a wonderful opportunity to have the teacher’s undivided attention and focus on your child. It is a vital aspect of the home-school partnership, and it greatly assists each child’s development and progress when we work as a team.

We hope you enjoy watching these beautiful moments as much as we enjoyed creating them with your children.
This week may have been a short one, but it was certainly packed with fun, laughter, and adventure! Our little ones loved creating their very own Father's Day artwork, and the smiles on their faces truly showed just how much love they have for their daddies. We would like to wish all our wonderful fathers a very Happy Father's Day and hope you have a day filled with love and special memories.
In the classroom, we continued exploring our exciting dinosaur theme, which has truly captivated the children. They had so much fun using toy dinosaurs, stomping, walking, and roaring around the classroom as they pretended to be real-life dinosaurs, bringing their imaginations to life through play.
We ended our fantastic week on a sweet note with our delicious Cake Sale! A heartfelt thank you to all our Crackerjacks parents for your generous contributions and support—it helped make the day extra special for everyone.
Happy Father’s Day to Our Amazing Dads!
This week, the Piglets and Tigger’s House children have been thinking all about the very special dads, grandpas, uncles, and father figures in their lives.
“Daddy, thank you for giving the biggest hugs, telling the funniest jokes, and making us laugh when we need it most. Thank you for playing games with us, reading stories to us, helping us when we are learning new things, and always being there when we need you.
Thank you for being strong when we need help, gentle when we need comfort, and proud of us every step of the way. We love the adventures we share, the silly moments we laugh about, and the special memories we make together.
You are our superheroes, our helpers, our teachers, and our biggest fans. Thank you for loving us so much and for making us feel safe and special every day.
We love you to the moon and back! Happy Father’s Day!”
To all our wonderful dads and father figures, thank you for the love, guidance, encouragement, and support you give your children. We hope you have a very special Father’s Day filled with love, laughter, and lots of cuddles.
With love,
The Piglets and Tigger’s House Children ❤️
What a buzz-worthy day in Grade 00! Our little learners had the best time exploring the life cycle of bees during a wonderfully entertaining live show. To cap off the sweet adventure, everyone got to taste some delicious honey. Learning has never tasted so good! 💛
This week, our classrooms were busy learning about life cycles and preparing special Father’s Day surprises.
This week, our Grade R learners explored a variety of life cycles while also preparing special Father's Day surprises. The Edward Bears and Owls focused on the life cycle of a plant, with the Owls especially enjoying observing their bean plant grow. Christopher Robin's House brought plant growth to life through movement and role-play, while learning new vocabulary such as germination and chlorophyll.
Rabbit's House investigated the life cycle of a chicken and thoroughly enjoyed the Bee Show, where they learned about the important roles of worker bees, drone bees, and queen bees. The Kangas explored both the butterfly and chicken life cycles and enjoyed a range of creative activities linked to their learning.
We wish all our dads and father figures a wonderful Father's Day and hope they enjoy the special surprises created with so much love by their children.
Our Grade 00 and Grade R children had a wonderfully exciting time at the Bee Show. It was such a special opportunity for them to learn more about the busy and fascinating world of bees.
The children discovered how important bees are in nature and how they help our flowers, plants, fruit, and vegetables grow. They also learned about the different roles inside a hive, including the hardworking worker bees, the drone bees, and the very important queen bee.
The show was filled with fun, curiosity, and lots of learning. The children listened beautifully, asked thoughtful questions, and were amazed to learn how bees work together as a team. It was lovely to see their excitement as they made connections to the world around them.
What a beautiful way to remind our little ones how even the smallest creatures play a very important role in caring for our environment.
What better reason to escape the winter chill than joining Exclusive Books for their cosy coffee mornings? While parents enjoy a warm cup of coffee, little readers can take part in fun Father's Day craft sessions and enjoy a morning filled with creativity and stories.
We are currently gathering materials for our Tinkering & Box Construction sessions, and we need your "trash" to turn into treasure! If you have any of the following items at home, please consider donating them to our makerspace:
Fasteners: Buttons, rolls of tape (masking, duct, or scotch), and string or yarn.
Cardboard: Boxes of any size (from cereal boxes to shipping crates) and paper towel/toilet paper rolls.
Decor: Leftover wrapping paper, fabric scraps, or wallpaper remnants.
Tinkering is more than just "playing with junk" - it’s early engineering. When children tinker, they develop spatial awareness, fine motor skills, and resilience. It teaches them that if a design fails, they haven't "messed up"; they’ve simply found a way that doesn't work, prompting them to iterate and try again.
Why are we so obsessed with boxes?
Open-Ended Creativity: A box isn't just a box; it’s a rocket ship, a laboratory, or a dragon’s den. This builds divergent thinking.
Problem Solving: Figuring out how to make a flat piece of cardboard stand upright or how to hinge a door using only string and tape requires high-level critical thinking.
Sustainability: It teaches children to see value in the world around them, proving that you don’t need expensive toys to innovate - just an imagination and a roll of tape.
Please drop off any tinker items at the office! Thank you!

As we come to the end of another busy and rewarding quarter, we would like to remind families that school will close on Wednesday, 24 July at 13:00, no aftercare. Thank you for all the support, encouragement, and partnership throughout the term - it has made such a difference in the children’s learning journey.
To end off the quarter on a joyful note, the children will take part in a fun Winter Olympics Day at school. This will be a light-hearted, active celebration where learners rotate through a variety of playful team events that encourage movement, cooperation, and lots of laughter. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the term together, enjoy some friendly “competition,” and finish off with happy memories.
An entry fee of R20 per child will be billed to your account in support of the Carl du Toit Centre for hearing-impaired children. This small contribution will go towards a meaningful cause while also allowing the children to take part in the day’s activities.
We wish all our families a restful and special break ahead and look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for the next term.
