Dear Parents
What an exciting week lies ahead! Our Grade 000–R children are eagerly preparing for next week’s “Zoo to Sea” concert, and we can’t wait to share their magical performances with you. We kindly ask that all children involved arrive at school by 08:00 on both Wednesday and Thursday so that they have time to get dressed. A light early-morning snack will be provided before and after the show. The concert will run for approximately one hour, after which extra-murals will continue as normal. Please note that our Crackerjacks will follow their regular school day, as they are not participating in the concert.
The weather forecast promises two lovely sunny days — please remember hats and sunscreen. Our beautiful Junior Preparatory Amphitheatre will be the perfect backdrop for the children’s concert.
Tickets can be booked via the link below; seats are unreserved and will open from 08:15. Spaces are limited, so please book soon, and keep your confirmation email as your entry on the day.

Our Tiny Tots had a wonderful week exploring the theme “My Garden.” The children loved stamp painting with real leaves, discovering the different shapes and textures each one made. Giggles filled the room as they used their little feet to create bright orange carrots, it was a fun and creative way to paint! Outside, the excitement continued as they searched for tiny bugs and different kinds of plants in our Crackerjack garden, learning and laughing every step of the way.
This week, we’ve been learning all about the garden, and we had so much fun exploring our own garden at school! The children enjoyed going on a little walk around the garden, smelling the beautiful flowers and noticing all the lovely colours around them.
They also had a wonderful time playing in the garden, digging in the sand, running on the grass, and discovering all the lovely things nature has to offer.
It’s been such a happy week filled with sunshine, smiles, and lots of garden fun! 🌸🌼🌿
This week, our curious Grade 000 astronauts blasted off into outer space! The children explored the wonders of the galaxy through creative art, using deep purples, blues, and a sprinkle of glitter to create their own “space” masterpieces that shimmered like real stars. They also had the chance to make their very own moon, using tinfoil to paint with and create bumpy, crater-like textures.
At the sensory table, little hands loved digging, molding, and building with “moon sand,” discovering new textures and sparking imaginative play. It has been a week full of exploration, creativity, and excitement, and we can’t wait to continue our space journey next week!
What a wonderful week of fun and learning in the Honey Bees House! Even with concert rehearsals underway, our creativity has been soaring.
Building Big and Learning Fast
The block room has been alive with activity! Our busy bees are having an absolute blast, letting their imaginations run wild as they build, create, and collaborate. This isn't just fun, it's powerful learning in action. Through block play, the children are:
• Developing problem-solving skills (planning and testing).
• Building social skills (teamwork and shared ideas).
• Exploring early math and engineering (balance and spatial awareness).
Opening the World of Books
We also spent time learning about Books this week. We explored the different parts of a book and why they're important. They lay the foundation for literacy and encourage a lifelong love of reading. We even made our own little book all about summer and our favourite things to do.
Outdoor Fun
To top off our week, we enjoyed a lovely picnic lunch in the beautiful "100 Acre Woods" (our outdoor area). Lots of fun and learning through play were had.
We are so proud of the joy and curiosity your Honey Bees bring to every experience. They are learning, laughing, and building big things, in every sense of the word!
This week in the Pooh Bears class, we have been learning all about books and the wonderful world of reading! We discovered the difference between fiction and non-fiction — that some stories are made up from our imagination, while others help us learn real facts about the world around us.
We also explored the parts of a book and learnt that every book has a spine, a front and back cover, and a special blurb at the back that gives us a sneak peek of what the story is about. The children loved discovering the important roles of an author, who writes the words, and an illustrator, who brings the story to life with beautiful pictures.
To make it even more exciting, we became authors and illustrators ourselves! Each child created their very own book — all about ME! These little masterpieces are filled with self-portraits, favourite things, and special details that make each child unique. They truly are real page-turners! What a wonderful week of storytelling, creativity, and imagination it has been. 📚✨

video-output-4D902607-8F95-4087-9E10-45686D24624E-1.movThis week in the Roo class, we’ve been very busy preparing for our concert! The children have been singing their songs with such joy and enthusiasm — you can feel the excitement building every day as our big performance gets closer.
Alongside our concert practice, we’ve also been exploring our creative sides through doodling. We learned that doodling is all about repeating patterns and letting our imagination flow freely. It’s been wonderful watching the children experiment with shapes, lines, and designs — each doodle is as unique as they are!
What a wild and wonderful week we’ve had in class! The room has been buzzing with excitement as we’ve practiced our hearts out, getting ready to wow the audience at next week’s big concert. In between rehearsals, we’ve gone on a thrilling adventure through the animal kingdom, discovering amazing facts about the “Big Five” , lions, leopards, buffaloes, rhinos, and elephants. Our imaginations ran wild in art, too, as we painted dazzling pink and yellow sunsets and used stencils to create stunning silhouette scenes of these magnificent creatures and we even added some elegant giraffes strolling across the savannah for an extra touch of creativity! We also had great fun doing some sums using counters, working in pairs to find the answers. It was heartwarming to see such fantastic teamwork, eager participation, and the pride on everyone’s faces when sharing their answers. It’s been a week full of colour, teamwork, and fun. Well done, everyone! We can’t wait to see what next week’s show and tell will bring!
Our little readers are in for a treat with this imaginative and prize-winning adventure by one of the world’s best children’s authors. Little mouse lists all the animals he is scared of, and sets about transforming the illustrations to make them less scary. This leads to a feast of surprises with torn pages, sticky notes, and delightful artwork. However, the book also covers a diverse range of beasts - mammals, reptiles, birds, insects, etc. It is a great resource for parents and teachers to introduce young children to the interconnectedness of the natural world and different ecosystems.
Emily Gravett has won numerous prestigious awards for her creative stories and illustrations. This unusual book is suitable for children 4 - 8 who will have a wonderful time exploring it, while learning about the animal kingdom.

Dear Parents
The Junior Preparatory Faculty cannot wait to welcome your little one to Grade 1 in 2026. I look forward to getting to know them and will visit their class near the end of the year to read a story and introduce myself.
Although the children will have a "pop in" during the school day to meet their teacher on Wednesday 26 November, there will also be a special Orientation for them to spend some time with their teachers on Friday, 16 January 2026 from 8:30 - 9:30. During this time we invite parents to join us for a Parent Meeting which will outline important information about the daily activities and requirements in Grade One.
The Grade One school day begins promptly at 08:00 (school opens at 07:30 for drop-off) and ends at 14:00. However, to support our Grade Ones in adjusting to the change in routine, their school day will end at 12:00 from Tuesday 20 January to Friday 23 January. If your child is enrolled in aftercare, they will stay with their teachers until aftercare starts at 14:00. From the following week, school ends every day at 14:00, and you may collect your children from their classrooms or aftercare. Sport will start on Tuesday 27 January 2026 and takes place on a Tuesday and Thursday from 13:00 to 14:00, during the school day. On these days as well as PE days the learners may come to school dressed in their PE Kit. Please note that the learners all swim in their classes during PE.
If your child is unable to swim, please enrol them in a reputable swim school. Class specific timetables will be shared by the teacher and the sporting and extramural programme on offer will be sent to parents in our Weekly Memo.
Please refer to the Welcome Letter, Frequently Asked Questions, Stationery and Textbook (Caxtons) letter and list as well as Uniform (sport clothes are worn at least twice a week) and iPad Requirements and Discount Voucher. Books DO NOT need to be covered as the children will make the covers in class and the teachers will cover the books with the slip-on plastic covers. In addition to this please ensure your child has a combination lock, an old T-shirt to use for art and a set of headphones compatible with their iPad.
