Dear Parents
As we reach our final week of the school year, it’s hard to believe how quickly these months have flown by. The campus is full of that familiar end-of-year mix of excitement and pride - all signs of a year well lived.
A reminder that school will close next Friday at 11:00, and there will be no aftercare on that day. As we count down to the holidays, we find ourselves thinking back on the moments that made this year so special: the friendships that blossomed, the courage shown by little ones trying something new, and the joy of watching them grow in confidence day by day.
Thank you for sharing your children with us. It has been a privilege walking alongside your families, and we are deeply grateful for the trust and support you’ve shown throughout the year.

We are delighted to share the link to the concert video. The children put their whole hearts into their performances, and we hope you enjoy reliving those precious moments.

Our little graduates shone with confidence and joy, and we hope you enjoy looking back on these special moments as much as we loved celebrating them with you.
Our tiny tots have enjoyed a heartwarming and marvellously imaginative week, developing their cognitive skills and sense of self by exploring the delightful world of books, fairies, and fantasy, creating bright "sunshine yellow" hand prints and discovering "butterfly symmetry" art. We extended this magic outdoors by playing in the garden, searching for magic in the outdoor lighthouse, and trying to spot Tinker Bell between the flowers! All the while, we nurtured our emotional growth through simple "golden rules" and powerful positive affirmations, allowing our imaginations to wonderfully discover the world of fairies and beyond, what a wonderful way to celebrate and learn together!
The Tots 2 enjoyed learning about South Africa. They proudly shared how much they love their country and were excited to learn new facts and try fun activities. Thank you to the parents for contributing the delicious South African snacks - the children thoroughly enjoyed the treats! Another highlight was painting the South African flag, where the children showed wonderful focus, creativity, and pride.
This week in Tigger’s House, we continued exploring and celebrating our beautiful Rainbow Nation. The children have been learning our National Anthem and enjoying new songs about fascinating South African animals, such as The Hadeda Song and The Lion Sleeps Tonight. We also had great fun singing Wave Your Flag while proudly waving our own flags in the classroom. A real highlight was learning The Wheels on the Bus in isiXhosa and Afrikaans - something the children embraced with such enthusiasm!
We then moved on to the theme of Cape Town, helping the children appreciate how lucky we are to live in such a magnificent city. One of their favourite discussions was about our iconic Table Mountain. Many children happily shared stories of their own adventures there, while others spoke of spotting the mountain on the drive home or visiting the beach. They created their own Table Mountain masterpieces using wax and dye - an activity that supported their creativity, fine motor development, and early artistic expression.
The children also explored our beautiful flora. Many decided that their favourite flower is our National Flower, the Protea. Using a layered art technique, they each created a stunning King Protea of their own. This activity encouraged focus, sequencing, and imaginative design—skills that are important for development.
Our Grade 000s have been loving their playtime out on the big field, where they have more space to explore and enjoy the larger equipment. Outdoor play is essential at this age, as it supports gross motor development, balance, coordination, and social interaction.
As the weather warms up, we have introduced various water-play activities both in the classroom and in the garden. Besides being wonderfully calming and soothing, water play offers rich learning opportunities - from sensory exploration to early science concepts such as pouring, measuring, floating, and sinking.
It has been a joyful, colourful, and proudly South African week of learning in Grade 000!
The Case of the Missing Honey Bee!
This week, our curious little Honey Bees transformed into real scientific investigators as we explored the wonderful world of science. With our detective hats on, we set out to solve the great mystery of “Who took Honey Bee?” Our investigation led us into the fascinating realm of fingerprints. We discovered that every person has their own special fingerprint pattern, and no two are ever the same, not even identical twins! We learned about the three magical patterns hidden on our fingertips: arches, loops, and whorls. The children were enchanted entirely as we collected fingerprints from all our “suspects.” Each Honey Bee had the chance to study their own prints under a microscope, carefully observing the tiny lines and swirls that make their fingerprints uniquely theirs. Then came the big moment, comparing their prints with those found at the “crime scene.” After much careful detective work, our clever little scientists cracked the case... It turns out Teacher Jo safely tucked Honey Bee into her bag to take home for a wash! Mystery solved! The excitement in the classroom was contagious. The children were amazed to see their fingerprints up close, and their enthusiasm for exploring, questioning, and discovering truly shone.
Fun Fingerprint Fact:
Did you know that the sweat and natural oils on our skin leave behind invisible marks every time we touch something? That’s why fingerprints are so helpful in solving mysteries!
Why This Investigation Matters:
Activities like this help young children build early scientific thinking skills, observing closely, asking questions, making predictions, testing ideas, and drawing conclusions. These hands-on experiences encourage curiosity, problem-solving, and confidence, laying a strong foundation for future learning. What an extraordinary week of discovery, wonder, and science magic! Our Honey Bees are well on their way to becoming brilliant little thinkers and investigators.
As we step into the second-to-last week of the school year, there’s a gentle feeling of winding down in the Pooh Bears House. The days feel a little softer, a little slower, and we’re truly savouring these final moments together as a class before we say goodbye to 2025.
This week, the children absolutely loved the beautiful table we set out for them. With pieces of material, soft fabrics and our toy babies on display, the invitation to play sparked imagination immediately. It was such a joy to watch the creativity unfold - little hands carefully choosing “outfits,” wrapping babies snugly into swaddles, and rocking them gently to sleep.
One of the biggest favourites was the back-wearing trend! Suddenly, our classroom was filled with proud little “parents” carrying their babies as they moved around the room. The care, the gentleness, the empathy - it was all there in their play.
As these last few days approach, we are soaking up every giggle, every imaginative moment, and every burst of joy from our wonderful Pooh Bears. What a special year it has been, and how lucky we are to spend this last stretch together.
What an exciting week we’ve had in Grade R! We were full of excitement as we travelled on the bus to Wonderdal, and the adventure only got better from there. At Wonderdal Edutainment Centre, we explored the tinker boards, lit up the Tree of Light, wandered through the Wonder Garden, relaxed in the Story Caves, and adventured through the Wildlands. We even put our thinking caps on to solve tricky challenges on Brain Teaser Island! We had so much fun that many of our friends couldn’t help but take a little nap on the bus ride back. Back in class, we explored our new theme, Festivals and Special Days, and got creative by making beautiful lanterns using bright colours and interesting shapes. It’s been a week full of learning, laughter, and wonderful memories! 🎉✨
MOMMY, I AM BORED!
Holiday time is here, and parents get a break from the relentless routine that governs our lives. But how do we keep little hands busy? Our creative publishers always ensure a variety of activity books at this time of the year, which cater for all age groups.
A recent publication is CAN YOU SPOT? with The Very Hungry Caterpillar. This search-and-find book features more than 100 animals, toys and yummy foods to find. The caterpillar’s Nature Walk
is another enjoyable search-and-find book which will provide many enjoyable hours. (0-3 years)
For the 3-6 age group, you can look out for My Pet Pyjama Party, which is a dress-up adventure with 5 pages of reusable stickers, beautifully designed by Louise Anglicas. For our ballerinas, there is also a Ballet Besties book expected in December.
FREE! Usborne Publishers provide weekly activity sheets and they are fabulous! Follow the link to their website and have a look. They also feature their latest activity books here.

We appreciate the time, effort, and generosity that go into making these moments happen.
As we look ahead to a brand-new year, our class placement process has concluded. Our primary goal is to create a balanced environment where each little one can thrive. To do this, we carefully consider every child’s class placement with thought and intention.
Our team of teachers and management thoughtfully review each child’s emotional, social, and academic needs, as well as the social dynamics within the group, to ensure that every learner is placed in the best possible setting for the year ahead. This is a mammoth task, involving many hours of collaboration and careful discussion.
While we understand that some parents may have preferences, we ask that you trust in our teachers’ expertise and our commitment to placing each child where they will feel supported, confident, and happy. Every decision is made with great care to ensure the best fit for your child’s continued growth and development.
📋 Class lists will be displayed in the Pre-Primary reception on Monday, 1 December 2025.

Our heartfelt thanks go to our wonderful teaching and support teams for the care, energy and dedication they've poured into this year. They have held the children with patience, love and professionalism, and it shows in every smile and moment of growth we’ve seen.
As we say goodbye to Tammy Shuttleworth and Cassandra Mönnig, we do so with deep appreciation for all they have given to our school. We will miss them both and wish them every happiness and success as they step into their next chapters.
Cassandra Mönnig
Although my time at Christopher Robin Pre-Primary has been brief, it has been deeply meaningful and has left a lasting impression. Working alongside such a dedicated and talented team of teachers and having the opportunity to spend time with your wonderful children has been both inspiring and rewarding. It has been a true privilege to sing, dance, and make music with the children, and to witness their unique personalities and creativity shine through. Teaching piano has been an especially fulfilling experience, as I have seen my students grow in confidence and develop a genuine love for music. I will miss everyone greatly and wish the entire Pre-Primary community continued success and a wonderful year ahead in 2026.
As we look ahead to 2026, we’re excited to share our staffing for the new year. Our teachers and support staff will continue to bring their warmth, care, and enthusiasm into each day, making sure our little ones feel safe, loved, and ready to learn. We’re also welcoming a few new staff members, and we know they’ll fit in beautifully and add something special to our school.
A friendly reminder to please label your children’s clothing - every hat, jersey, sock, and jacket! 🧦✨
Labelled clothes have a magical way of finding their way back to their rightful owners (and homes!) 🏡, while unlabelled ones often go on unexpected adventures in our lost-and-found box.
Let’s help those runaway jerseys make it home safely

Dear Parents
The Junior Preparatory Faculty cannot wait to welcome your little one to Grade 1 in 2026. I look forward to getting to know them and will visit their class near the end of the year to read a story and introduce myself.
Although the children will have a "pop in" during the school day to meet their teacher on Wednesday 26 November, there will also be a special Orientation for them to spend some time with their teachers on Friday, 16 January 2026 from 8:30 - 9:30. During this time we invite parents to join us for a Parent Meeting which will outline important information about the daily activities and requirements in Grade One.
The Grade One school day begins promptly at 08:00 (school opens at 07:30 for drop-off) and ends at 14:00. However, to support our Grade Ones in adjusting to the change in routine, their school day will end at 12:00 from Tuesday 20 January to Friday 23 January. If your child is enrolled in aftercare, they will stay with their teachers until aftercare starts at 14:00. From the following week, school ends every day at 14:00, and you may collect your children from their classrooms or aftercare. Sport will start on Tuesday 27 January 2026 and takes place on a Tuesday and Thursday from 13:00 to 14:00, during the school day. On these days as well as PE days the learners may come to school dressed in their PE Kit. Please note that the learners all swim in their classes during PE.
If your child is unable to swim, please enrol them in a reputable swim school. Class specific timetables will be shared by the teacher and the sporting and extramural programme on offer will be sent to parents in our Weekly Memo.
Please refer to the Welcome Letter, Frequently Asked Questions, Stationery and Textbook (Caxtons) letter and list as well as Uniform (sport clothes are worn at least twice a week) and iPad Requirements and Discount Voucher.
