Dear Parents
We had a fantastic first week back at school! It’s been such a joy welcoming all our little ones after the holiday, and we’re especially excited to have a few new faces and families join our school. We kicked off the week with our Grade R graduation photographs, and our extra murals also started on Tuesday, bringing lots of smiles, energy, and excitement to our days.
We ended off the week with the most scrumptious and delicious Grade R cake sale, a big thank you to our wonderful Grade R parents who contributed treats and offered their time to help with the selling!
To the Matric Class of 2025, as you begin your final exams on Monday, we want to extend our best wishes to each of you. This is the culmination of all your hard work, dedication, and perseverance throughout the years. Stay confident, trust in your preparation, and give it your all. We believe in your abilities and are excited to see the future you will create. Good luck!
It feels like just yesterday that the Matrics were the cute little Grade R learners of 2013. How quickly time flies!

Our Tiny Tots have returned from their holiday, and the classroom feels alive again. We’re slowly finding our rhythm, easing back into our familiar moments of play and laughter. It’s hard to believe how much they’ve grown, taller, braver, and full of new stories. We’ve missed their little voices and the joyfulness they bring to our days. It’s lovely to have them at school, and we look forward to a bright quarter ahead, filled with lots of activities and creativity.
This week, our classrooms were filled with sunshine, colour, and creativity as we celebrated our theme — Spring! The children had so much fun learning all about the signs of Spring — blooming flowers, buzzing bees, green grass, and trees full of new leaves.
As part of our art activity, we made beautiful Spring trees! The children used a straw as a stamp to print the tree blossoms, exploring how different tools can create unique patterns. We also worked on our fine motor skills by crumpling small pieces of coloured paper into tiny balls to add as blossoms on our trees. It was wonderful to see how focused and proud everyone was of their colourful creations.
Through this activity, the children not only expressed their creativity but also strengthened their hand muscles — an important skill for writing later on. Our classroom truly looks like a Spring garden now, filled with bright and cheerful artwork!
We’re so excited to see what next week’s theme will bring!
What a wonderful first week back we’ve had! I’m so proud of how beautifully the Tots 2 children have settled back into our routine. This week, we explored the theme of Spring and talked about how beautiful this season is, full of colour, flowers, and new life.
For our art activity, we created stunning butterfly artworks using coloured tissue paper. The children carefully placed the tissue pieces onto their butterflies and used paintbrushes to dab water over them. They were so excited to see the colours transfer and blend, leaving behind a magical watercolour effect once the tissue paper was removed.
It’s been such a joyful and creative start to the term. Well done, Tots 2!
Welcome back to school! We hope you all had a lovely time with your little ones, making memories and having fun!
We’ve had such a happy and heartwarming first week together after the holidays. The classroom has been filled with excitement, giggles, and lots of cuddles as we reunited with our friends and teachers.
This week, we’ve been diving into the magical world of books — learning how to care for them, how we read them, and what makes each one special. The children have loved exploring our cosy book corner, paging through colourful stories and sharing their favourites with friends. We’ve also been making our very own books, using drawings and our imaginations to create something truly special. What a joyful start to the term!
What an exciting first week back it has been for our little Honey Bees! The classroom was instantly filled with the sound of laughter, cheerful chatter, and the warm joy of friends reuniting after the holidays. The air buzzed with excitement as our curious learners dived straight into our new theme, Extinct and Endangered Species, exploring the importance of caring for our planet and protecting the incredible creatures we share it with.
The children were absolutely captivated, eager to discover more about animals like the gentle panda, majestic tiger, and Saffron Toucanet, some of which are sadly endangered. Their curiosity knew no bounds, and it was heartwarming to see how invested they became in learning ways to help protect wildlife.
We also built on vocabulary and language skills through our story cards during ring time. Our Honey Bees spoke with growing confidence and enthusiasm as they brought their stories to life with expressive voices and imaginative ideas.
In art, we strengthened fine motor skills while experimenting with vibrant colours to make our toucan masterpieces pop! Every picture was a burst of creativity, reflecting both skill and passion.
It has truly been a week filled with laughter, learning, and inspiration, a wonderful start to what promises to be a fantastic quarter ahead!
What a wonderful first week back at school it has been for the Pooh Bears! We started the quarter learning all about Endangered Animals and discovered that there aren’t many of some of these special creatures left in the world. We spoke about how important it is to look after them and the environments they live in by not littering and by keeping our seas and rivers clean. The children created the most beautiful art pieces by choosing their own paint colours to stamp around stencils of whale sharks, silverback gorillas, Bengal tigers, sea turtles, and even the extinct dodo bird. Our colourful creations are already brightening up our classroom walls — a proud reminder of how we can all help care for our planet and its amazing animals!
What an exciting start to our first week back in Grade R! We kicked things off with graduation photos. Everyone looked so smart and grown up in their uniforms. It’s hard to believe we’re already in the last quarter of the year! Our theme this week was reptiles, and we had so much fun learning about these fascinating creatures. We discovered that reptiles are cold-blooded, lay eggs, and have dry, scaly skin. Some reptiles, like legless lizards, don’t even have legs, and many have no external ears, they “hear” through vibrations! We also talked about how some reptiles use camouflage to blend into their surroundings, just like chameleons. For art, we created our own colourful chameleons using bubble wrap painting to give them fun textures. Then we drew a jungle background with oil pastels, adding branches, leaves, and flowers. Each chameleon was a different colour to show how they can blend in, and the final artworks were absolutely adorable and full of personality!
It is time to introduce a super-talented South African illustrator and master of caricature and animation, Marthinus van Tee. This brilliant artist is known for whipping up superfast caricatures at events, and brought Riaan Manser’s children’s adventure books to life through his hilarious illustrations.
Exciting news on the book front is that Martinus now has his own book on the shelves, written and illustrated by himself. The Witching Kitchen is a whimsical tale of a granny and her granddaughter cooking together to prepare a family favourite, a magical stew that has been handed down through generations. This is no ordinary stew, with ingredients like a dodo’s plume and a green dragon’s breath. This funny tale is a recipe for delight and enjoyment. Look out for it at your local bookstore.
