Dear Parents
We are so excited to welcome our “special people” into the classroom. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time with your little one, share in their world, and take part in a fun classroom activity together. The children can’t wait to show you what they’ve been learning and to create a special memory together with you.
Kindly RSVP to your class teacher.

As the quarter draws to a close, we would like to take the opportunity to thank all the parents for their support throughout.
We invite parents to a report feedback meeting with your child’s class teacher. Click on the class links below to choose a preferred date and time. We encourage every parent to take the time to book and diarise a feedback meeting. This is a very important meeting in terms of your child’s progress and finding out more about their days at school. It is also a wonderful opportunity to have the teacher’s undivided attention and focus on your child. It is a vital aspect of the home-school partnership, and it greatly assists each child’s development and progress when we work as a team.

This week the Tiny Tots little hands were sponge-painting a beautiful blue ocean and sprinkling sand to create the seashore, all with gentle guidance. The children giggled as they worked, and their excitement grew as we added paper plates to make boats with different textured papers for the sails. The kids truly enjoyed learning about water transport through this fun, hands-on activity!
On rainy Wednesday, our playroom became a world of adventure. Tiny Tots climbed the mini ladder, others built with blocks, and many were excited as they crawled through the caterpillar tunnel and had fun listening to music and dancing.
Each day, our little ones are exploring and trying new things, finding joy in play, and growing in confidence. We can’t wait to share more with you next week.
This week the Tots 1 set sail on a wonderful learning adventure all about water transport. The children were so excited to learn the many different ways people can travel across water.
Together we looked at different types of water transport and discussed how some boats use motors while others have sails and need wind.
In art time, we created under water submarines including different types of sea creatures you might see. We also sang, “Row, Row, Row your boat”, and discussed how row boats also don't have motors but use oars instead.
Its been a joyful week of learning and creating and we can't wait to continue our transport theme next week.
The children had a wonderful time exploring the theme of water transport this week. They enjoyed water play with boats, watching them float and move around in the water. One of the highlights was making their own boats and decorating them with colourful paper. This creative activity gave them a chance to practise fine motor skills and express their imagination.
Through play, the children also learned about how boats move and float, which sparked their curiosity and encouraged them to ask questions. It was a joyful week filled with splashing, building, learning, and lots of laughter.
The Grade 000s concluded the transport theme this week by learning all about transport on water! They thoroughly enjoyed a science experiment about sinking and floating. The children had so much fun finding different objects and placing them in water, guessing whether they would float on top or sink to the bottom. Afterwards, they counted how many objects sank and how many floated, deciding whether more objects sank or floated. This experiment encouraged critical thinking, prediction skills, and introduced them to basic scientific concepts in a fun, hands-on way!
They also loved creating their own boat art and "sailing" on the sea with Table Mountain in the background. They were incredibly proud of their beautiful works of art! This activity promoted creativity, fine motor skills, and spatial awareness while tying into our water transport theme.
We made another stop at road transport to do a wonderful free art activity where the children used paper plates, cardboard shapes, kokis and scissors to create their own vehicles! This open-ended task supported creativity, shape recognition, and scissor skills.
And then came something magical - the children spontaneously built a town for their vehicles! This was completely their own idea and sparked such excitement! It was a fantastic moment of imaginative play, collaboration, and early problem-solving as they created roads, buildings, and stories for their little town.
To end off our transport theme, we played a game where we classified different modes of transport into their categories - land, water, and air.
This sorting activity reinforced their understanding of the topic and developed logical thinking and categorisation skills.
We wrapped up our week with one last movement Ring, zooming around the hall pretending to be different modes of transport!
This active play supported gross motor development, imaginative thinking, and was the perfect energetic end to our transport journey!
This week, our curious Honey Bees dived into the fascinating world of chameleons! We explored fun facts about how they change colour, use their eyes independently, and cleverly camouflage in their environment. The children were completely engaged and full of questions!
To bring our learning to life, we created bright, beautiful chameleon art using a salt painting technique. The children were delighted as the colours spread and crystallised into magical patterns, sparking wonder and creativity. We also discussed the importance of patterns in nature and how they help us make sense of the world.
At STEAM Park with Teacher Nikki, the excitement continued as the children built their own seesaws! Through hands-on learning, they explored balance, weight, and movement, all while having so much fun.
We are incredibly proud of our little Honey Bees. Their enthusiasm, creativity, and love for learning continue to shine every single day!
This week, the Pooh Bears continued exploring our exciting Reptile theme. We created beautiful rainbow-coloured chameleons with bright green backgrounds. Along the way, we discovered that chameleons don’t actually change colour to camouflage, but rather when they are feeling angry or showing their mood. The children loved learning this fascinating fact!
We also spent time working on our fine motor skills, planning, and spatial awareness while drawing self-portraits for our “My Family” theme. Our drawings are becoming more detailed each week, and it’s wonderful to see the children’s confidence and creativity shining through. Their work is looking absolutely AMAZING!
This week at Kanga’s House, our little Kangas zoomed into the exciting world of transport! We kicked things off by using our imaginations to design and build our very own transport creations using colourful shapes. From triangles for wings, circles for wheels, and rectangles for bodies. The creativity kept rolling as we used sponges to paint a long, vibrant train, carefully adding the locomotive at the front (that’s the engine that powers the whole train) and a variety of colourful carriages and cabooses behind it.
Our LEGO sessions were a hit too, with some impressive cars, buses, hovercrafts, and even a few rockets taking shape! While our main focus was land transport, we discovered that vehicles like cars, trains, and bikes help people and goods move across roads and tracks every day. During robotics, the Kangas had the freedom to design any type of transport, and they certainly delivered, with creations ranging from submarines to flying taxis! It’s been a week full of movement, imagination, and learning. Full steam ahead!
This week the Owls explored the theme of transportation. After learning about different ways we travel, the children used box construction to design and build their very own cars. With lots of creativity and teamwork, the classroom quickly turned into a busy “road” full of proudly made vehicles!
In How Many Ways Can You Say Hello?, author Refiloe Moahloli introduced us to Sara who travelled through South Africa in a hot air balloon. She discovered many new friends and learnt to say ‘hello’ in many different ways. The celebration of our wonderful languages continued as Sara learnt how to say ‘goodbye’ in How Many Ways Can You Say Goodbye? Now we are in for a special treat as Sara travels again to meet all her friends. This time, they are sharing meals, and Sara learns how to say thank you in all the official languages, including sign language. If you have no idea how to pronounce these words, do not fear. Refiloe has narrated the story, so all you have to do is sit back, relax and enjoy the story, while the whole family learns new ways to say thank you. This lovely book is now available in our local bookstores, recommended from age 4+. Enjoy practising!

For aftercare families, we kindly ask that you sign your child out on the register each day. To keep everyone safe, children cannot be collected by older school-going siblings - collection must always be by a designated adult.
