Dear Parents
With Mother's Day around the corner, we took a moment to reflect on just how special our moms are to us. From the comforting hugs to the early morning school runs, our little people know just how much they depend on their moms every single day.
It’s in the way they tie shoelaces, wipe tears, cheer from the sidelines, and tuck them in at night — always with love, patience, and strength. To our children, moms are magic. They are the safe place, the superhero, the biggest cheerleader, and the warmest hug all rolled into one.
From our little voices came the sweetest words this week: “My mommy makes the best food!”, “My mom gives the best cuddles!”, “She’s my favourite person in the whole world!”
This week and always, we celebrate the incredible moms who give so much of themselves , your love is noticed, needed, and deeply appreciated. Thank you for being the heart of your little one’s world.
It was such a joy to welcome the Piglets and Tiggers back to school after our mid-term break. They returned full of energy and enthusiasm, ready to learn, play, and explore together.
Continuing with our farm animal theme, the children have had a wonderful time moving around the classroom and hall like different farm animals. They’ve also been learning the names of various farm animal babies, which sparked lots of excitement and curiosity. The stories What the Ladybird Heard and What the Ladybird Heard Next were firm favourites, captivating everyone with their fun characters and clever plots.
In our creative time, the children moulded clay to make little chicken nests with tiny eggs. Working with clay, which is firmer than playdough, was excellent for developing their fine motor skills and strengthening their hand muscles. They also explored different painting techniques using rollers, stamps, and paintbrushes. It was a delight to see them expressing themselves so confidently, problem-solving as they worked, and practising important social skills like sharing and taking turns.
As we head into the weekend, we’d like to wish all our wonderful moms a very Happy Mother’s Day. We hope you enjoy some special moments with your little ones on Sunday!
Slipper Day was met with great excitement as our children arrived dressed for comfort and a cause! In support of the Reach for a Dream Foundation, many learners came to school wearing their favourite slippers, with some even arriving in cozy pajamas. The atmosphere was filled with joy and warmth, as the school embraced the spirit of giving in a fun and meaningful way.
From snuggly slippers to fluffy gowns, our little ones proudly participated in raising awareness for children facing life-threatening illnesses.
A big thank you to all who supported this initiative, it was a wonderful day of compassion and comfort.
We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Jungle Adventure Concert, where our little performers will take you on a wild and wonderful journey through the jungle!

DreamWorks Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR. features original music and lyrics by George Noriega and Joel Someillan, and book by Kevin Del Aguila.
As the show opens, we learn that Marty the zebra may be celebrating his tenth birthday at the Central Park Zoo with his friends Alex the lion, Gloria the hippo, and Melman the giraffe, yet he longs to experience life outside of the zoo’s walls. When Marty eventually escapes, his animal friends from the zoo pursue him into New York City. After reuniting, the animals are chased by the police, and ultimately felled by tranquilliser darts. They awake, trapped in crates, on a ship, which, through a series of events, is thrown off course. Upon reaching land, the animals discover they have been shipwrecked on the island of Madagascar. Ultimately, it is only in being so lost that they can begin to discover where they really belong.
Every Grade 4 - 6 learner as well as every Grade R - 3 dancer is getting ready to Move it! We hope to see you join in the fun too! Ticket Sales are now open! Book here via Quicket.
Each grade has the opportunity to contribute to a cake sale, and the children eagerly look forward to their special treat. We ask that cupcakes, popcorn, crisps, muffins, etc. be sent to the class on the allocated cake sale date. Please ensure all items are nut-free and do not include sweets.
To keep appetites in check, we recommend that children spend no more than R2 at the cake sale. You may send R2 on the day in a sealed envelope/packet or prepay for the term (R6 per term, R24 for the year).

MEETING ROSLYNNE TOERIEN
Our Grade R’s had a great experience when they joined the Junior Preparatory learners in the hall for an author visit. Roslynne Toerien hails from KZN and is a trained teacher, who knew exactly how to keep her young audience entertained. She introduced her books and then shared The Speedy Six Olympics in an interactive way which involved the audience throughout - they even got to do a Cheetah Rap. The children were fascinated by the speeds that different animals achieve. What a treat!
If you would like to add some of these stunning books to your home library, they are available from local booksellers. The books can also be ordered and delivered to school. Please call Nicole on 064 530 6693 or email nicole@thebookbox.co.za.
